Katherine Goyette, co-author of The Complete EdTech Coach: An Organic Approach to Supporting Digital Learning, has been an educator in California’s Central Valley for over fifteen years. She inspires educators across the globe via speaking engagements, consulting services, and content creation. Katherine serves as the Educational Technology & Integrated Studies Consultant for a county office of education. She engages teachers, coaches, and administrators in active professional learning grounded in solid pedagogy regarding topics including technology integration in the classroom, distance/hybrid learning, project-based learning, interdisciplinary learning, computer science integration, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning.
Katherine believes in the power of on-site coaching and ensures that she is in classrooms working with teachers and students as often as possible. This coaching methodology provides context rich, job-embedded learning and builds educator capacity.
Formerly, Katherine has been an administrator, curriculum coach, and taught grades K, 1, 2, 5, and 6 in a multiple subject setting, after beginning her educational career as a general music and piano teacher for ages infant through adult. Katherine and her husband Adam Juarez @techcoachjuarez are currently writing a book on the topic of EdTech coaching.
Katherine believes in the power of collaborative networks. She met her husband Adam via her PLN (personal learning network), with whom she co-founded the hashtag #CVTechTalk, a platform for collaborative conversations which has been featured on local news segments and has members from across the globe. Katherine and Adam sealed their marital union in a public ceremony at the FallCUE EdTech conference, in a session livestreamed on social media named: The Power of a PLN. Katherine also founded www.SiteLeadersConnect.org, to build capacity of educational leaders of all levels through collaborative networks.
Katherine was primary writer for California’s inaugural Computer Science Standards and is a Region Lead for the California Computer Science/Digital Learning Collaborative. She is the founding President of the Computer Science Teacher Association’s California Central Valley Chapter, and served as President of the student charter of Region IX Association for California School Administrators for two years. Katherine speaks across the nation about various educational topics and has been featured as an author for Leadership Magazine, CUE Blog and EdTechTeam Blog. She holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University – Fresno, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Whitworth University. Katherine’s certifications include: Google Certified Educator, Trainer, and Innovator, Apple Teacher, Microsoft Innovative Educator, PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator, PBLCore Certified Trainer, and Universal Design for Learning Trainer of Trainers.
Katherine lives in central California with her husband, son, and stepdaughters. In her spare time, Katherine enjoys playing piano, reading poetry, and continuing to learn.
